Life Navigation Coaching

“Stress is part of life, part of being human. But that does not mean that we have to be victims in the face of large forces in our lives. We can learn to work with them, understand them, find meaning in them, make critical choices, and use their energies to grow in strength, wisdom, and compassion.”

— Jon Kabat-Zinn

“What’s Going On” -Marvin Gaye

In March of 2020, we were thrust into a major work/life transition for which we had no time to prepare.  Change was rapid and reactive to external circumstances.  We experienced micro and macro losses which impacted us both individually and globally.  Ekhart Tolle, a spiritual author best known for his books “The Power of Now” and “A New Earth,” espouses that it is within life challenges that we experience the most personal growth.

One of the few gifts resulting from the global pandemic is that we were given a rare opportunity to re-examine our sense of “why”. We began to challenge assumptions around systems and expectations.

Whether you are facing a life transition or struggling wIthin a relationship or professional role, I can help you to stay connected to your values and support you in curating a life that feels purposeful and meaningful.

About Lynn

I am a master’s level social worker, certified yoga instructor and resilience coach.

I became certified as a professional coach through Duquesne University’s Palumbo School of Business in April of 2020. I earned my Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential through the International Coaching Federation (ICF) in August of 2021, and have recently pursued focused study in both resilience and trauma-informed coaching.

My non-linear professional journey

I received my BA in sociology at the University of Wisconsin in 1987 and completed my master’s degree in social work at the University of Pittsburgh in 1990. For 15 years I provided counseling to help individuals and families face challenges in their homes and relationships. My life took a pivot in 2007 as I faced a challenging family situation and found comfort on my yoga mat where I discovered the power of breath and presence . I realized that yoga was a transformative practice that went well beyond the physical experience. Drawn to yoga’s teachings and philosophy, I pursued a 200 hour yoga teacher certification in 2012 and have been teaching ever since.

Although I took a pause from counseling as raising my three children took precedence, I always knew that I would get back to it at “the right time”. I decided to re-emerge as a counselor/coach after navigating a major health challenge in 2017. Within my personal experience I learned first-hand how to access strength and resilience. I launched “Life Navigation, LLC” in 2018 determined to help others to thrive during stressful times.

Living a life that matters

I believe in the power of energy, intuition and intention, and am committed to empowering others to visualize and manifest expansive life experiences. Within the coaching context, I help individuals to challenge self-limiting beliefs and negative thought patterns while creating new and inspired visions for how they want to show up for themselves, loved ones and beyond. I also include evidence-based mind/body practices as a modality for anxiety and stress reduction. I embrace both eastern and western philosophies as a pathway to healing and well-being.

Interview: COVID-19 Coping Strategies

In the following interview from April 2020, I was asked to talk about strategies for coping with the stress and uncertainty of COVID-19.  Rabbi Aaron Meyer of Temple Emanuel of South Hills asks me to share tools which help to alleviate feelings of “overwhelm” that many of us are experiencing.

Guided Meditation

The following guided meditation was recorded by Fox Learning Systems, Inc. to be used as part of a COVID-19 training for caregivers associated with the PA Homecare Association.  This 5 minute mindfulness/meditation exercise was designed to help individuals manage stress and cope with the anxiety associated with being on the “front lines” of caregiving.

Testimonials

Lynn has help me find clarity during times that I felt very stressed…

sad, or overwhelmed. She’s always made me feel comfortable to open up with her and even during times when I don’t think I’ll have much to talk about, I feel more in-tune with myself after we meet. I also appreciate her guidance in mindfulness and that she leads guided breathing when I feel really emotional. I’ve committed to seeing Lynn as a way that I take care of myself, and it’s truly been beneficial for me. — JR

One aspect that struck me the most during first couple of sessions with Lynn…

was the uniqueness of her style of therapy. This uniqueness almost took it out of being “therapy” completely, and transitioned it into a mindful and guided journey of reflection, education, and love for one’s self. Her style is what drew me into trying a session in the first place, and it continues to be an immensely thoughtful progression of care and practice. — Samm

Seeking help and finding a therapist can be an overwhelming process…

When I walked into Lynn’s office, however, my initial nerves were eased immediately by her warm and inviting presence. She creates a positive energy and atmosphere where I felt completely safe to open up about my life. When I found myself overwhelmed with emotion, Lynn was able to articulate things I wanted to say, but had trouble formulating from my thoughts. She has helped me navigate through many of life’s hurdles and continues to provide me with invaluable support. I couldn’t be more grateful. — Alysha

From day one, working with Lynn felt like the right fit…

She's a gifted listener and an innovative therapist. Lynn has brought me back to a place of peace with my daughter after a seemingly impossible struggle. — SM

I LOVE LYNN!

I have grown so much as a person since Lynn and I began working together 3 years ago. Lynn combines her experiences as a yoga instructor, as an expert guided meditation facilitator, and as a certified Life Coach to influence the breadth and impact of our sessions. Sometimes we will do yoga, other times she will guide me through meditation, and we do a lot of traditional talk therapy too.

Before going to Lynn, I had spent the majority of my 20’s looking for a therapist who was the right fit for me, and I finally found her. I respond well to Lynn’s multifaceted approach toward integrating life-healing. — Ali

Working with Lynn has been an absolutely pleasure! …

She has been a kind and affirming force in my life for the past few years, helping me grow and challenge myself and actualize real and positive change. — Olivia
